Through a process of rigorous experimentation and perfection, we craft our various types of Copenhagen Distillery Gin to be exceptionally unique and pleasantly surprising to the palate. From the introduction of our award-winning Orange Gin in 2016 to our most recent Bay Leaf Gin, we always look to challenge the conventions of how gins are crafted. Copenhagen is a city that is known for its design, and our Copenhagen Gins follow in that philosophy—both in taste and aesthetic. Whether it’s by experimenting with new flavours or removing extraneous ones, we want all of our Copenhagen Gins to be instantly recognisable and 100% memorable.
Our limited editions are distilled because of our curiosity of what’s possible. Most of them never make it to the bottle, but those who do, are definitely worth the taste.
Depending on the aquavit brand, or the region in Scandinavia, the spelling can be different. The designation is a semantic one, however, the legislation around making aquavit is the same across the board. Aquavit is essentially alcohol flavoured with a distillate of dill seed and/or caraway, and then maybe cask matured. It’s beyond this point where aquavit brands start to distinguish themselves. It’s at this point where we let loose and rethink traditions. With our aquavit bringing into being the following collection of unique and fantastic spirits.
For our Mexican Coffee Liqueur, we use organic Mexican coffee beans from two different roasts: a very light roast that lends a higher acidity, and a medium-dark roast that catches slightly bitter coffee notes. We combined the coffee distillate with cane sugar, green anise and a touch of grated organic lemon peel that adds a richer experience to any coffee liqueur drink.
Our Dill Anise is an invigorating twist on this classic Scandinavian spirit. With dill as the primary flavour driver, complemented by notes of green anise and lemon peel, this aquavit has a sharp citrus tang with a lingering aftertaste that is spicy and distinct.
Our Danish aquavit gracefully invigorates classic French aperitif wine. An elegant Nordic adaptation of the world’s most widely recognised cocktail, the Dry Martini. A bracing pre-dinner classic.
Black Taffel is based on wheat alcohol and an un-aged sugar beet spirit flavoured exclusively with caraway. The deep earthy notes are due to the sugar beet spirit, which is made from fresh sugar beet juice from Lolland. Citrus, chocolate and eucalyptus can also be found in the profile and comes from the slow distillation of caraway.
Combine two of our spirits, the Black Taffel Aquavit and the Mexican Coffee Liqueur, into a mouth-watering Scandinavian interpretation of the famous White Russian cocktail.
This drink pays off at your next dinner party. Rich chocolate and lemon delightfully matches our delicate aquavit in this satisfying dessert drink.
Inspired by Denmark's gardens, we set out to make a Summer Aquavit that would taste like our childhood memories. Using crisp dill as our traditionally predominant flavour, Mulberry Rose uses both fresh and preserved flowers and fruits from the hedgerow to create a sweet, light July feeling. It accompanies fish and light meats perfectly. Or you can do as we do—lots of ice, tonic water and a big sprig of mint.
We call it sunshine in a glass. A quick and bitter drink to stir up before dinner. Our version of an Italian classic.
Mulberry Rose Aquavit’s freshness, heightened into a thirst-quenching treat. It’s easy to shake up, and the perfect way to kick off festivities as the sun begins to set.
Cinnamon, pepper and cocoa. Perfectly blended with flavours of tantalising orange, cardamom and star anise. Accented with luxuriously blanketing notes of mellow caraway. Our Cinnamon Pepper is the pleasant smells of a Scandinavian spice-cupboard distilled into fine aquavit.
